Ballinahown Community Development held its first ever Christmas market on Tuesday, December 21, 2021.
The community carpark was transformed into a winter wonderland for the occasion, which also celebrated the winter solstice.
The outdoor event had something for all ages, with a range of local businesses taking part and plenty of last minute gifts available, including wreaths and decorations, local crafts and artwork as well as baked goods.
There was plenty of food, hot and cold, to choose from on the evening! You could even pick up a Ballinahown Christmas mug and enjoy a hot drink while listening to Christmas carols.
The market included a kids zone with Christmas activity and Santa himself made an appearance in vintage red sports car! There was be a Christmas jumper competition for festive adults and children alike!
A remembrance ceremony to remember all those who passed away during the Covid 19 pandemic was held on the evening. The ceremony saw candles placed into the fountain, accompanied by a reflection by Fr. Brendan, accompanied by the choir, allowing families to remember loved ones who passed away during this difficult time.
Ballinahown Community Development would like to thank Westmeath County Council for its support of the market.
The Christmas Market of 2022 was bigger and better than 2021! More stalls, more food, more people, a fabulous Santa, good weather, festive music and cheer. What more could a small community like Ballinahown ask for in the run up to Christmas. Watch this space for 2023!
