Ballinahown Community takes pride in the approach roads to the village which have been and continue to be an evolving development which began over twenty years ago with the building of stone walls on all approaches. The walls play host to a wide variety of plant and animal species. Cracks and crevices in these walls are important for lichens, mosses and ferns and over the years, many bird and bat species have used them for breeding or hibernating. In addition, as you approach Ballinahown you will marvel at the variety of mature trees and hedgerows, not to mention the wild grass areas that are so important to our wildlife and wild flower population.
There are exciting future plans in this area which include the realignment of the Clonmacnoise junction, together with proposed footpath / road refurbishment and signage which will enhance safety and subsequently quality of life with Ballinahown.
